Fallout 4 Video Praises The Importance Of Perception

With the hotly-anticipated Fallout 4 releasing just months away, one must be reminded that it’s been years since a proper console and PC game was introduced. Entirely new generations of gaming enthusiasts have entered the medium in the millions since then, possibly unaware of what the series even is about in a 3D open world RPG space. That’s why Bethesda (with a little help from Vault Tec) has started a video series introducing people to what makes their character system S.P.E.C.I.A.L. They started last week with Strength, but now they have moved onto Perception.

As the Fallout 4 video reminds us, Perception is important if you want to actually hit whatever targets you point your weapon at. The Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System uses your Perception stat to gauge how likely you are to hit a target’s specific body parts with whatever method of dealing damage you’re using. You also use Perception to help sneak around and steal items from people. Those unaware with the series wouldn’t know you can drop a live explosive grenade on an NPC to cause massive damage to their person, and that’s where this video comes in.

What makes this Fallout 4 video series effective is that it explains the game’s mechanics in a comedic, stylish way. They’re not beating you over the head with pre-order incentives, nor are they trying to get you to encourage others to pre-order to unlock tiers of pre-order content for all. It’s quite refreshing that Bethesda is comfortable with this series not to mess around with its good will up to the Fallout 4 November 10th launch on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. You can check out the Strength video below.
