Metal Gear Solid V Mythbusters Showcase Attention To Detail

If there’s one ideology that permeates and persists throughout each Metal Gear Solid entry that Hideo Kojima has directed, it is the depth of realism in a fantasy world. To put it better, it’s to add in aspects of real life that other game directors just don’t think to add in a video game, such as melting ice in Metal Gear Solid 2, or the alternate method(s) of defeating The End in Metal Gear Solid 3. Youtube channel DefendTheHouse, infamous for their gaming “Mythbusters” segment that was popularized when observing Grand Theft Auto V secrets, has now turned their attention to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

These are the “myths” targeted in this Metal Gear Solid V Mythbusters:

  • You can travel via Fulton recovery.
  • You can stun an enemy by hitting them with an empty magazine.
  • Enemies can drown in shallow water.
  • Bears and soldiers will attack each other.
  • You can kill an enemy by throwing a body at them.

As always, not all of these myths about Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be confirmed. It’s the showcasing of what can and can’t be done that’s magical about this series, as there are plenty of secrets and creative methods of playing this game available. This is surely just the beginning of a substantive series for the channel, as the subtitle “Episode 1” insists. I’ve actually used the empty magazine trick during my review playthrough so far, but hadn’t heard about the others.

Bravo, Kojima and Kojima Productions! Here’s to discovering more secrets in the weeks, months and possibly years ahead.
