Let’s Learn About The Story Of Mortal Kombat X

While pedestrian fighting game players usually think of the stories in such games as an afterthought, both the developers and the most devoted of fans themselves care a great deal. Mortal Kombat X is just the latest in a long line of titles, with a story spanning more games than not. Today, NetherRealm Studios has released a trailer aimed at relaying the basic plot at hand for the story mode of Mortal Kombat X, providing a brief glimpse at some familiar faces.

The story of Mortal Kombat X appears to center around Cassie Cage, leading a ragtag group of fighter known better for their family members than themselves. Kung Lao descendant Kung Jin, Jax Brigg’s daughter Jacqueline and Kenshi’s son Takashi Takeda are looking for a mysterious talisman that can bring untold destruction to mankind if it is not recovered quickly. Sindel, Rain, Erron Black, Baraka, Mileena, Shinnok and Takeda all make appearances, although it is unclear which characters are playable or not. As hinted by the splices of gameplay within the trailer, the story of Mortal Kombat X will see quick transitions from cutscene environments right into combat. Seeing how Cassie is directing her squad in diamond formations and multiple characters are shown fighting their own separate fights within one scene take, you can see that the developers should be sticking to the storytelling motif present in Mortal Kombat 9.

Mortal Kombat X will be released for the PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360 on April 14th.
