Bayonetta Brings Umbran Climax To Super Smash Bros.
The final character trailer for a Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS reveal is everyone’s favorite witch; Bayonetta.
Many had been wondering just who exactly would be the final character coming to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Many had thought it would be Cloud, before he was inevitably revealed in a previous Nintendo Direct. Others thought it would be someone like Groose. The final character ended up being the Super Smash Bros. ballot winner (among possible negotiable characters); Bayonetta!
Yes, Sakurai brought in Platinum Games’ M-Rated heroine as the final character coming to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS, and boy does she pack a punch! Seeing as the character action series utilizes precise combos and action strings, it makes sense that the way she fights in Smash remains the same.

Most of the moves Bayonetta pulls off can pull into combos, including her neutral, smash and special attacks. She also carries her bullet arts skills from her namesake series in order to chip percentage away from a distance or to clip enemies about to fly off the stage in order to steal scores away from opponents. Her down special attack is a counter that allows Bayonetta to unlock witch time, slowing opponents down in order to get a big hit in.
What makes Bayonetta an interesting inclusion is the aesthetic and art style that she brings to the fighting game. Her butterfly and rose imagery appear as she moves around the stage, including her shadow as a butterfly. Both Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 costumes will appear in the game as options, with color select alternates that include a Jeanne pattern.
The Bayonetta Final Smash sees her summon Gamorah after filling up the Umbra gauge. Opponents will be chewed up by the demonic entity and those with 100% or more damage will be destroyed immediately. Players can enjoy the Umbra Clock Tower stage once the update goes live, reflecting the opening of the original game, while several classic and original Bayonetta music tracks will be added to her stage.
Bayonetta will become available for $5.99 on either the Nintendo 3DS or Wii U platform, and at $6.99 if you want to own the character on both. She is currently scheduled for a February 2016 update. Thank you, Hideki Kamiya, for bringing the character to life!
