Evo 2015: Your Smash Bros Wii U Grand Finals Winner Is…

facebooktwitterreddit

C’mon, really? Even with the spoiler-free title, there was no doubt in anybody’s mind who would win the Super Smash Bros. for Wii U championship title at Evo 2015. It lands in the hands of the never-ending competition slayer, ZeRo, who goes to show that Diddy (occasional use of Sheik throughout pool play) is still tournament viable over Mr. R, who mained Sheik to 3 straight set losses.

With majestic scarf in tow and a Diddy-appropriate shirt, ZeRo’s chances for winning the Smash Bros. tournament was never in doubt. The way he was juggling Mr. R was clinical, the zoning traps were playing into his wheelhouse and Diddy was flying all over. Whether it was playing on Final Destination or Battlefield (the only two stages to reach Grand Finals play), ZeRo was the man to beat at Evo 2015. Unfortunately, for the field, nobody could step up to the plate.

With the advent of DLC characters joining the Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS roster, both now and in the future, it will be interesting to see if/when ZeRo will be unseated as the undisputed Evo/Apex/any tournament ever champion. With Roy, Lucas and Ryu just some of the characters that could include new customs/tech that will be ready for competition in the coming months, there are a lot more matchups to consider. Plus, with the new characters (that were too new for Evo 2015) being among top/high tier, an excellent player may unseat the king come this time next year.

Here are your Top 8 Super Smash Bros. for Wii U players for Evo 2015, in order of tournament placing:

1. ZeRo (Sheik, Diddy Kong)
2. LLL|Mr. R (Sheik)
