Joining the ranks of titles like Xenoblade Chronicles X, Splatoon will also be receiving its very own Nintendo Direct treatment. As revealed in a press release from Nintendo, fans will get a preview look at the squid-tastic third-person shooter on Thursday, May 7 at 7 AM PDT / 10 AM EDT. You can watch the livestream over at Nintendo’s Nintendo Direct page, or on the Nintendo of America Youtube channel in the hours/minutes leading up to the event going live.

This isn’t the first time Splatoon has received its own special bonuses. Previously, Nintendo announced that the game will receive its own special Wii U bundle, which comes with a digital download of Splatoon itself. The game will also feature amiibo figures, which help provide additional mission content as part of a three-pack. Finally, there will be an action-packed event called the Splatoon Mess Fest over at the Santa Monica Pier Parking Deck in California on Friday, May 15th. Just two weeks before the game launches, celebrities will be competing in a variety of events, with prizes to be handed out before they sit down to play Splatoon in person.
Whether or not we will learn anything new about the game next week, GameSided will be watching and we’ll cover the stories that unfold from the Splatoon-specific Nintendo Direct as they happen.
