D4: The Latest Xbox One Exclusive Now Coming To PC

facebooktwitterreddit

It has been hinted at since GDC 2015, but the news is now official and straight from the horse’s Twitter account. D4 game director Hidetaka Suehiro (aka “Swery65”) has confirmed that the episodic adventure game will be coming to the PC.

The official announcement comes from Japanese magazine Famitsu, detailing what the PC version of D4 will entail. Essentially, most item placement will stay the same, while previously-released DLC will act as in-game items (due to the fact that the game came out quite some time ago). Furthermore, the biggest adaptation is the lack of Kinect support, as most play will be done with the mouse.

Unfortunately, the recent announcement of the porting of D4 to the PC comes without further news about the game’s ongoing story. For those unaware, only the prologue and Chapters 1 and 2 have been released, ending on a major cliffhanger in the ongoing quest to “find D.” By releasing a brand new version for PC, perhaps Microsoft Studios and Swery65 can rack up the further sales necessary to continue development on what is one of 2014’s greatest games. The quirky storytelling, eccentric characters and intriguing gameplay mechanics that are home to D4 should at least come to a solid and deserved conclusion.

D4 is currently available exclusively on Xbox One, although not for long. It will join Ryse: Son of Rome and Dead Rising 3 as titles that were first Xbox One exclusives before making their way to PC.
