Earlier today, many online noticed that Konami had taken extensive measures to wipe the Kojima brand from their current crop of Metal Gear products. For instance, here is Konami’s website for Metal Gear Solid V (MGSV) games in February. Here is Konami’s website for Metal Gear Solid V games now.

In addition, Kojima Productions Los Angeles is now notably changed to Konami Los Angeles Studio. This along with the shake up of the executive office flows along with the story Konami has been putting out regarding many of the changes people have been noticing. In an official statement on the question of Kojima’s standing with the company, Konami has this to say:

"As we have already announced, we are shifting our production structure to a headquarters-controlled system, in order to establish a steadfast operating base capable of responding to the rapid market changes that surround our digital entertainment business. Konami Digital Entertainment (including Mr. Kojima), will continue to develop and support Metal Gear products. Please look forward to future announcements."

Corporate restructuring or re-branding is never kind to holdouts and from all reports, Hideo Kojima and others at his studio were in a contentious relationship with other executives in Konami. As it stands now, Konami is attempting to save face by saying what everyone really wants to know, which is Hideo Kojima and his staff are still involved with the production of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. What we do not know is how long they will be involved with Konami afterward.
