Fallout 4 PC System Requirements Listed, Are Odd
While nobody truly knows why the hell Star Wars Battlefront recommends 16 GB of RAM to run optimally, at least that won’t be the case for Fallout 4. They have recently listed the PC system requirements to run Fallout 4 both optimally and at a bare minimum, and they suggest that it certainly won’t be the graphical powerhouse that we’ve seen from the unreasonable-to-replicate standards CD Projekt RED have created. That said, it might be more computationally intensive than one would expect.
Minimum
- Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
- Intel Core i5-2300 2.8 GHz/AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0 GHz or equivalent
- 8 GB RAM
- 30 GB free HDD space
- NVIDIA GTX 550 Ti 2GB/AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB or equivalent
Recommended
- Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
- Intel Core i7 4790 3.6 GHz/AMD FX-9590 4.7 GHz or equivalent
- 8 GB RAM
- 30 GB free HDD space
- NVIDIA GTX 780 3GB/AMD Radeon R9 290X 4GB or equivalent

As you can see, the bare minimum 550 Ti and 7870 AMD cards are fairly different beasts in terms of power. Perhaps Nvidia cards will run Fallout 4 more smoothly at low video outputs? Either way, the CPU’s listed are the big concern. An i7 4790 is near top of the line for the market, and an i5-2300 isn’t too old of a CPU in its own right. It looks like they will be doing a lot of the heavy lifting to run the game, suggesting the difficulties of crafting a massive open world title today.
Fallout 4 will launch for PC, PS4 and Xbox One on November 10th.
