Why Does Star Wars Battlefront Recommend 16 GB Of RAM On PC?

As we approach the final weeks of the development of Star Wars Battlefront, most work going into the game will be squashing bugs and polishing up gameplay performance. That’s why the Origin listing for the game shows its PC system requirements so far in advance, although the news does come with some concerns.

But first, the actual Star Wars Battlefront system requirements for the PC version of the game.

  • Processor (Intel): Intel i3 6300T or equivalent

  • Graphics card (NVIDIA): nVidia GeForce GTX 660 2GB
  • Graphics card (ATI): ATI Radeon HD 7850 2GB
  • DirectX: 11.0 Compatible video card or equivalent
  • Online Connection Requirements: 512 KBPS or faster Internet connection

Recommended PC System Requirements:

As you see, even the basic version of Star Wars Battlefront on PC will be graphics intensive. A GTX 660 graphics card means you can play on a computer with video output two generations old or newer, while 8 GB of RAM minimum is fairly steep. Even crazier is the recommended 16 GB of RAM for the best output of the game. Yes, a GTX 970 graphics card insists that the game will look stunning in action, but I’m not quite sure what processes could be running that would require more than 8 GB of RAM for a PC to continue to run smoothly. Hopefully, optimization isn’t an issue, but such a requirement may imply that very notion.

Star Wars Battlefront will launch on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on November 17th.
