Hideo Kojima, Guillermo del Toro To Speak Together At DICE
Guillermo del Toro will do more than hand Hideo Kojima a trophy during this year’s DICE summit.
While I’m sure Hideo Kojima would like to move onto better things for the future of Kojima Productions, there will be a chance once more in the near future for him to relive his past. Polygon reports that the former Konami auteur behind the Metal Gear Solid series will be joined with famed director Guillermo del Toro to look back on their careers at the DICE summit.
“A Conversation with Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro” will be moderated by games marketing guru Geoff Keighley, on a night where the two can “revisit some of their fondest memories from their own individual careers as well as some of the pivotal moments from each other’s work that remain a constant source of inspiration.”

This will not be the first and only event between the two during this year’s DICE proceedings. Hideo Kojima is also expected to be inducted into the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame as the 2015 recipient of this honor. That award, too, will be presented by Guillermo del Toro. That will take place before or after the late Nintendo president Satoru Iwata will receive a Lifetime Achievement award for his work at HAL Laboratories and Nintendo.
All eyes will be looking into this conversation hosted by Hideo Kojima’s good friend, especially as the two have been known to work together to reveal massive game announcements in the past. Many will recall the most infamous example being “Ground Zeroes” from “Moby Dick Studios,” which turned out to be the first half of the Metal Gear Solid V story. While we won’t likely see something like that come out of this conversation, given the departure from Konami, it will sure be an interesting listen.
