You can donate directly through the Games Done Quick donation tracker, where you can assign your donation dollars towards certain speedrunning incentives. Popular donation incentives include whether or not to save the animals at the end of Super Metroid (this year just one guy running the Reverse Boss Order), names of characters and other fun things. You can also donate at certain times during the stream in order to enter raffles for prizes, including special consoles and other pieces of gaming memorabilia.
Viewers can also pick up some sweet Awesome Games Done Quick games-themed t-shirts from The Yetee, with $3 from each shirt directly going to the Prevent Cancer Foundation. Starting at just $11 with affordable shipping, it’s a great way to get involved while wearing the cause on your sleeves! Plus, Twitch’s take from subscriptions for the livestream will also go towards PCF.
Each year, the following for Awesome Games Done Quick only gets larger and larger, as more money is raised for Prevent Cancer Foundation progressively each year. Awesome Games Done Quick 2014 saw donations raised to a total of more than $1.23 million; an awesome feat for a collective group of people simply playing video games for 7 straight days in a row!
The show is expected to begin at roughly noon ET today, with Awesome Games Done Quick 2016 starting off with a run from Tones Balones going through Splatoon Any% run. Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz, Super Monkey Ball and Rayman Legends (with SpikeVegeta at the sticks) are set to follow. There are two races expected to kick off Day 1, with a Diddy Kong Racing All Trophies race and a Super Mario 64 three-way 120 Star race scheduled for almost 8:30 PM. We’ll be here to recap each day’s events, as well as promote some cool donation incentives and runs to watch throughout the week of speedrunning fun.
