It’s not often that you see influential members of the games industry appear on live television shows, unless they’re used as props for a talk show host’s apology tour of the internet. That’s why it is genuinely intriguing that The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will have not one, but two guests from said industry on the brand new show next week, including the creator of No Man’s Sky, Sean Murray, showcasing a gameplay demonstration to a television audience of millions.

On a week that kicks off with a Monday that hosts Michelle Obama, Mindy Kaling, John Legend, the first gaming industry guest of the week will be no other than Felix Kjellberg, aka “Pewdiepie.” He will be on the show following Claire Danes from Homeland and the CEO of Snapchat, Evan Spiegel on Thursday, October 1st. Then, on Friday, we will get to see some No Man’s Sky action following appearances by Morgan Freeman and Ruth Wilson.

As great as it is to see gameplay demos of titles outside of the promotional boogaloo of Jimmy Fallon’s late-night talk show, it’s more indicative of the guest-booking personality of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. In his short stint, he’s had on presidential candidates, CEO’s of blossoming tech industries and even been pointed in his conversations with the entire field. To market No Man’s Sky as, perhaps, the first demonstration of any product on a new late night talk show, is a great get for Hello Games, but it’s a sign of acceptance from the mainstream media that such a thing can exist without mockery.
