Every Single Smash Bros Fighter Will Be An amiibo

During today’s Nintendo Super Smash Bros. Direct event, game director Masahiro Sakurai revealed a bevy of new amiibo characters coming in an upcoming Smash Bros amiibo wave. R.O.B. Duck Hunt, Mr. Game & Watch, Mii Fighters and Falco will all be coming out as figurines first, but more importantly, Sakurai also announced that every single fighter on the Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS roster will become an amiibo at some point in the future.

These Super Smash Bros. amiibo figurines will be joining those previously announced in this wave (Zero Suit Samus, Ganondorf, Olimar, Dr. Mario, Bowser Jr.), with a release window of this September. They are expected to retain the same current MSRP, so make sure to keep an ear out once pre-orders go live. If you can’t find any of the ones you want in your area at your favorite store, you can always check out the amiibo tracking website to keep up to date on all amiibo hunting info.

What I like about this wave of new amiibo figurines is that Nintendo is starting to open up to the possibilities of what their toys can do. While I’m certain the option to remove Mr. Game & Watch and swap in new stances presents a choking hazard to children, it shows that standard “tough guy/gal” poses won’t be imposed 100% on all future creations. Swapping in different stances might be a cool option to go with future additions.
