Here’s What The Box For Halo 5: Guardians Will Look Like

The very first thing a passerby will notice, when looking through their local store’s collection of video games, is the box art. Unless they’re only looking at the spine of boxes for their titles, it’s what is draped along the front of the box that catches the consumer’s eye and fills them in on a glimpse of what said game will contain. That’s why, for monumental franchises like Halo, revealing just what to expect on the box is a mini event in of itself. It’s exactly why Microsoft has taken to the Xbox Wire to make that reveal today for Halo 5: Guardians.

Up top in the featured image space is the extended cover art for the game, while the physical retail box art itself can be seen below.

As you can see, there are a few things out of the ordinary with the Halo 5: Guardians box art that the series has not seen yet. It uses the standard orange and teal colors, granted, but it’s also the first entry in the series where Master Chief isn’t handling a gun. Furthermore, instead of facing directly forward or backward (a series standard), Master Chief and Jameson Locke are standing opposite from each other, continuing the trend of promoting the story of Halo 5 as a hunt for the truth as the two face off against each other.

The vertical box art is not quite as telling as the extended cover art for Halo 5, however, as it omits different teams of Spartans facing off on either side. Plus, you have the giant alien-robotic machination in the middle and small Covenant Wraiths flying over the wreckage of a destroyed city landscape. The actual story of the game remains a mystery, but with teases like this popping up every month, we should learn a lot more about the development of this game before it will inevitably be released.

Halo 5: Guardians will launch exclusively for the Xbox One on October 27th. You can check out the teaser video reveal of the cover art below.
