Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Is What Square Enix Is Teasing
UPDATE 2: There’s a trailer now for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Adam Jensen is back!
UPDATE 1: Just in case you had any doubts, the cover story for Game Informer this May will be Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
ORIGINAL: Remember that weird ARG-like tease Square Enix has been pulling off on Twitch these past few days? Many, including myself, thought that the Western-studio-developed game to be revealed would be a new Deus Ex game that was previously rumored, making this terribly-acted “livecam” act a gimmicky waste of time. Turns out those people were correct, as a Russian gaming website, Kanobu, has leaked details about Deus Ex: Mankind Divided on their website. A cache of the website is available here.

The Google Translate option does not do a great job of sharing all of the details, however does appear as though Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will be headed for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One. No release date or window has been given, and Square Enix has yet to officially comment on the leak. There are some comments about its standing within the canon, suggesting Human Revolution’s endings may not be taken into consideration for this new chapter’s story, although it could be a translating miscue.
As we learned from the Game Informer cover story reveal, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will take place in 2029, 2 years after the Human Revolution story. Protagonist Adam Jensen is now part of a task force with the goal of taking down terrorists that use technological augmentations for evil. Jensen, himself, remains augmented in a way that improves his stealth and combat maneuvers, while improving his ability to interact with others and deduct pieces of information based on what they say and how they say it.
The story seems to take place in a world where there is a semi-rational fear about half-human, half-robot beings, with the story events of Human Revolution being the catalyst (avoiding spoilers, here). As GI updates their story in the coming month, we will learn more about the gameplay, plot and other developments of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
You can check out some of the early screenshots below, revealed first from Kanobu.
