Avenged Sevenfold will be showcasing some playable songs from live concerts in Guitar Hero Live in an event running throughout the holidays.

One half of the Guitar Hero Live experience is playable songs on specific music channels on Guitar Hero TV, similar to that of a playable Pandora mixed with music videos and a note highway to follow along. While it’s disappointing that you have to pay or grind for on-demand content, at the very least Activision has dedicated time to producing quality free content for all, including a new addition to their partnership with rock-metal band Avenged Sevenfold.

Starting today at 5:30 PM Pacific and running at sporadic times between then and December 29th, Guitar Hero Live will be airing the playable “A7X Rock Classics” show, as hosted by Avenged Sevenfold. It will be a one-hour show that broadcasts on the Guitar Hero TV channel 1 for an hour at a time as the band takes players along for the ride as they select their favorites in addition to their own songs.

Guitar Hero Live players can expect a mix of songs from the likes of Pantera, Megadeth, AFI, Bob Dylan, Boston, Queensryche, Tenacious D, Faith No More, Deftones, Weezer and more, in addition to exclusive new favorites. For example, A7X will be introducing playable concert footage from their recent headliner at England’s Download Festival. “Shepherd of Fire,” “Buried Alive” and “Nightmare” will all be added into the mix, and will act as their live versions of songs to play for future channel plays of relevant genre setlists.
