New Phantom Pain Patch Has A Secret Way To Bring Back…

Obvious spoiler warning for the story of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain ahead!

One of the oddities of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain concerns its near-launch updates. Whether it be stealth incentives to do FOB missions with S-Rank staff member rewards, resulting in retaliation and lost materials, leading to well-timed “FOB Insurance,” or the game-breaking bugs that were patched out, it seems like Konami are effectively changing the results of the natural story, based on odd requirements. This is your last time to get out unspoiled.

Metal Gear Network has confirmed that the latest patch of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain allows you to bring back Quiet after her departure following Mission 45? How does one get her back, you might ask? Well, all you have to do is replay Mission 11, “Cloaked In Silence,” seven times. It’s the mission where you’re either skilled enough to take her out with patience and a steady sniping hand, or become a weak coward and continue to drop a supply drop box on her head. On the seventh completion, the Mission 11 subtitle will read “[Reunion],” and after a successful mission complete, Quiet is back on your team, in the Medical Platform cell, playing classic tunes.

Despite people upset that they can’t run headfirst into oncoming bases and HQ’s anymore with their faithful sniper taking care of the mess Snake leaves behind him, I’m not too much of a fan on bringing Quiet back after that point in The Phantom Pain. It comes with a story reason, and not holding onto the crutch of a super soldier backing up your super soldier makes the game enjoyable and challenging to play in its later stages. It makes a lengthy, bloated but incomplete game fun, even if it means the internet’s recent favorite object to stare at isn’t there to stretch like a cat in your chopper anymore.
