PS4-exclusive Matterfall has been announced at Sony’s Paris Games Week press conference.

The game is being developed by Housemarque, who you may remember as the brains behind Resogun. We don’t know much about the game just yet, aside from a sneak peak trailer that was revealed at the show.

In the video, we’re presented with a character who shoots his way through the enemy within a world of colors in which anything that’s red explodes into a vast bundle of cube-like objects when attacked.

The trailer looked gorgeous, although I’m not expecting the full game to look quite this good. It’ll be interesting to see whether developer Housemarque have chosen the 2D route a-la Resogun, or whether this will be a full 3D experience.

A short synopsis for the game has also been revealed, which explains the world in a little more detail.

“MatterFall follows an unexpected hero fighting for survival on a ravished sci-fi world infected by a mysterious and deadly alien material known only as “Smart Matter”. Using agility and powerful weaponry you must explore this new world and utilise your own control over the Smart Matter to uncover the mystery of this new threat and save the day before it threatens the very existence of the human race.”

We’ll have to wait a little while before we know anything else about the game, as no release date has been provided as of yet. For now, check out the new trailer for the game below, and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
