Fallout 4 Won’t Include Any Exclusive DLC

While there are certain aspects of Fallout 4 that will be coming to PC and Xbox One first, including the addition of mod support, that doesn’t mean that the long-standing DLC support for Xbox consoles will continue to have its earlier advantage. Pete Hines, VP of Public Relations and Marketing at Bethesda, was recently asked if DLC will come to the Xbox One first, or if all DLC would be released across all platforms at the same time. His answer is what PS4 owners have been waiting for.

While some will still argue that having plans for DLC in the lead up to Fallout 4 is still dubious, may I remind you that DLC with the series has always been something of a side-mission exploration venture. Whether it be fighting with the Brotherhood of Steel, traveling to neighboring cities or getting snatched by an alien spacecraft, the DLC of Fallout, traditionally, does not act strictly as an extension of the main story. It provides the opportunity to extend the playability of a game that has always taken dozens upon dozens of hours to beat.

Bethesda is right now to make DLC exclusive or timed exclusive anymore. Fallout 4 has been years in the making, and fans have been waiting for years since. So much positive mindshare surrounding the title would be lost by putting up artificial time barriers because Bethesda wanted to make more money on a title that is almost guaranteed to make bank for them, regardless.

Fallout 4 will finally launch for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One on November 10th.
