Super Mario Maker Stage Coming To Super Smash Bros.

This past weekend, Nintendo released Super Mario Maker for public consumption, allowing us all to play Miyamoto dress up. Now the fun turns to a more action-oriented viewpoint, as Nintendo has revealed that a Super Mario Maker level is coming to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS on September 30. To show how it works, they have released a video of the stage in action on both platforms.

Every time you load up the stage, the game will load you onto the safe platforms, disappearing when you jump off. As this happens, the Super Mario Maker hand will start to draw the stage using items from the level-editing toolbox. The items, the stage layout and even the Super Mario game that the level embodies thematically will change each time, providing combatants with a fresh new look and play every time out. To add to the immersion, the Maker hand will even repair broken blocks as they are damaged.

UPDATE: Information on Nintendo’s website indicate that the stage will be sold individually for $2.49 on either 3DS or Wii U, and at $3.49 for both. It’s an awful lot for just one stage, in my opinion, although I wouldn’t be surprised if more DLC isn’t on its way. Hopefully, at the very least, Super Mario Maker owners get the content for free as a reward for buying the game! Either way, the stage itself will look to provide even more nostalgia for Nintendo fans to enjoy, carrying the flag over from platform creator to party fighter.
