Yesterday, Nintendo launched a new site for their upcoming game Chibi Robo! Zip Lash, an adorable 3DS side-scrolling platformer featuring Chibi-Robo and his plug slinging, cord swinging abilities. The website offers some already-known details about the title, plus a link to a list of all the amiibo that are compatible through either the NFC Reader built-in to the New Nintendo 3DS, or the accessory on the regular 3DS…and there’s a lot of them.
The blurb from the website reads:
"Our tiny hero, Chibi-Robo™, is geared up to save the world in his own HUGE plaformer! Whip and swing his powerful plug and cord to grapple and zipline through tricky, trap-ridden corridors. Then power-up into Super Chibi-Robo by tapping in your Chibi-Robo amiibo™ figure, all while collecting munchie real-world artifacts across dozens of levels.Whip, grapple, and swing your way through a side-scrolling adventure!Master Chibi-Robo’s all new plug and cord abilitiesTap your Chibi-Robo amiibo figure to supercharge your gameplayTons of collectables, including real-world snacks, coins, and more"
Tapping the Chibi-Robo amiibo unlocks Super Chibi-Robo mode, increasing his speed and plug-throwing distance. Tapping any other of the 56 amiibo that are compatible with the game allows you to earn in-game coins, though whether these function as currency or just collectables isn’t yet clear. A full list of compatible amiibo can be found on Nintendo’s website, and they include the Smash Bros. figurines (including those not released yet such as Bowser Jr), the inklings, and the plush yarn Yoshis.
Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash comes out on October 9 for Nintendo 3DS.
