In a press release today, Telltale Games revealed that their upcoming title, Minecraft Story Mode, will be the first of their games to feature a customizable player character.

If you’re unfamiliar with Telltale and Mojang’s collaboration to fit a choice-based storyline into the popular world of Minecraft, here’s the trailer from MineCon:

According to the press release, the hero, named Jesse, can be male or female, featuring Patton Oswalt (known as Spencer Olchin in The King of Queens and Remy in the film Ratatouille) as the voice of male Jesse, and Catherine Taber (Padme Amidala in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars) as female Jesse. Other voice acting talents that will bring Minecraft’s story to life include Brian Posehn, Ashley Johnson, Scott Porter, Martha Plimpton, Dave Fennoy, Corey Feldman, Billy West, and Paul Reubens.

Telltale provided several new screenshots featuring the different customization options for Jesse, which (along with gender) seem to include hair color, eye color, expression, skin tone, and clothing palettes. Take a look:

Minecraft: Story Mode episodes will begin this fall and will be available on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Wii U, PC/Mac, iOS and Android. The Beta is currently available for play at PAX Prime.
