Whenever you look for examples of Kickstarter gaming projects hitting deadlines way too late after their promises, you should look no further than the one for Barkley 2. Officially titled “The Magical Realms of Tír na nÓg: Escape from Necron 7 – Revenge of Cuchulainn: The Official Game of the Movie – Chapter 2 of the Hoopz Barkley SaGa,” Barkley 2 promised backers a copy of the completed game by December 2013. Yes, most (if not, all) Kickstarter projects are released later than initially stated, but it’s almost 3 years in the making. Promises are supposed to be kept!

Today, for Tales of Games, the promise has been made.

The development team of Barkley 2 has released a new teaser trailer, parodying the announcement of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake while promising a release date of their own. All we can verify from this trailer is that the Cyberdwarf is real and back for more action. The trailer insists that Barkley 2 will be released on November 11, 2023, so only 8 more years of waiting left! The Cyberdwarf cosplay comes from Cute Monster Cosplay, with the trailer created by Reload Last Save.

If you’re impatient like me and want to really see the follow-up to the freeware monstrosity/gift from the heavens “Barkley: Shut Up & Jam Gaiden,” Tales of Games will be bringing Barkley 2 to the Indie Mega Booth once again for PAX Prime 2015. If you’re in Seattle for the event, make sure to check it out!
