Final Fantasy XV Supposedly Releasing In 2016

Even though development of Final Fantasy XV has improved from 55% complete last September to 65% this August according to the game’s director, that’s not stopping Hajime Tabata from claiming that the game will be complete and ready to play before 2017. That’s the official word to GameSpot, implying a 2016 release for the in-development Action-RPG title by saying, “At the very least, I can tell you that it isn’t going to be released this year. I think we’ll be able to tell you when we’re making the announcement around PAX Prime, at the end of this month.”

Whereas someone hearing that would logically insist that Final Fantasy XV would be coming out in 2017 at the earliest, don’t be so quick to the trigger. Tabata later said, “We can certainly say to people: it’s not going to be 2017. It’s going to be before that.”

Unless production of the game has just about reached content lock in the development stage, with the final 35% being optimization, filling the environments and bug squashing, Final Fantasy XV coming out in 2016 seems simply illogical of a statement. The team just put out a reworked version of the same Episode Duscae demo not too long ago, and the recent pre-story trailer for the game just teased the barest of information about the game. Everything very much points to an “in-progress” stage of development. That said, those working at Square Enix have a better understanding of the game than the public does.

Final Fantasy XV will be released on the PS4 and Xbox One.
