Killer Instinct Teases Rash From Battletoads, Season 3 Characters
Well, that was certainly unexpected! One of the biggest surprises to come out of Microsoft’s gamescom 2015 conference was the fact that Battletoads would no longer be just be a shirt from a token Rare franchise for Xbox head Phil Spencer to wear. In fact, Rash from Battletoads would turn out to be the newest character to join the Killer Instinct roster, confirmed to make a sneak preview appearance in Killer Instinct Season 2 starting yesterday. Those who purchased Rare Replay or Killer Instinct downloadable content can check him out. Today, Microsoft released a gameplay trailer, showing off our green friend’s move set.

It’s safe to say that Iron Galaxy Studios aren’t afraid of getting a bit silly with Nash in a Killer Instinct game that plays like a serious fighting game. Not only does Rash’s fists and feet get huge when punching and kicking, but he turns into a damn wrecking ball. Additionally, while donning sweet sunglasses, can pick up opponents and walk them around for a short distance before tossing them. He can negate projectiles by swallowing them whole, dampening the effects of ranged moves from Spinal, Jago and more. Finally, to really show off, Rash brings in the motorcycle from the infamously difficult level to run over the competition.
The best is left for last, though, as we get a hint at what’s next for Killer Instinct Season 3. Right as a typical end teaser for character gameplay trailers that we’ve seen in the past, we get a shot of golden nunchucks, paired with familiar music from the orient. This is clearly a nod towards the return of Kim Wu, although we do not get to see what the character looks like this time around. Players will have to settle for just checking out Rash until September 8th, before he’s sent back to the NES era.
He will return to Killer Instinct when Season 3 is released on Xbox One and Windows 10 in March 2016.
