Gamescom 2015: Rise Of The Tomb Raider Shows Off Stealth And Crafting In Combat
By Martin Benn
Rise of the Tomb Raider has put up 2 major showcases recently at E3. While the general buzz about the game is surrounding its exclusivity, the gameplay aspects of the game have thus far flown under the radar. This new Rise of the Tomb Raider trailer changes all of that showcasing a much more brutal and cold, calculating kind of Lara Croft.

The first game for Tomb Raider was applauded for its efforts to reduce the amount of dissonance between the character as a mass murderer and a novice explorer. Ultimately, ceding to the nature of synapses everywhere, Tomb Raider melted away those feelings when it saw fit.
When the first trailer for Rise of the Tomb Raider showed Lara in what looked to be a mental health therapy session, it looked as if the new Rise of the Tomb Raider would focus on how she comes from that to be Lara Croft experienced in previous games in her lore. Seems plausible, right?
Well, from this trailer we now have our answer. Lara Croft copes with the events of Tomb Raider by becoming a homocidal maniac. She chokes and drowns a man in water, she blows people away with hand crafted bombs, and she beats a man over the head with a bottle then stabs him with it. Rise of the Tomb Raider will let you execute stealth kills with the same brutality she experienced deaths with in the first game.
Rise of the Tomb Raider still is no Walking Dead or horror style games with blood everywhere, but it is rather gruesome. I cannot wait to see even more of what Lara is bringing to the table in this game.
I am really glad to see this footage as it is so much better than the stuff they showed off at E3 2015. Seems like we should also thank The Last of Us for this bit of inspiration as well.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is slated to come to Xbox One November 13, 2015 and PC and PS4 at later unannounced dates.
