Resident Evil 2 Remake Already Getting Official Capcom Pitch

Well, this is certainly a quick turn of events. Recently, the Resident Evil Facebook page had a representative from Capcom R&D Division 1 write up a post essentially asking about the viability in them making a Resident Evil 2 Remake. More importantly, the team has some reservations about the brand, and asked their fans what a Resident Evil 2 Remake would mean to them, in terms of an identity. The response was overwhelming, with “H” (likely Resident Evil Remake producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi) writing back yesterday that his boss told him about what great feedback the fans gave towards the prospective project.

Today is where it steps into the next gear, as “H” posted this picture of what appears to be the makings of a Resident Evil 2 Remake pitch.

Accompanying the picture was a message from H:

"Hello RE fans! This is H again!Right after the RE HD Remaster project was finished, I actually started putting together my ideas for this “RE2 Project”. So, I just brushed it up and went to see my boss to present the basic concept of the project already…"

What’s interesting is that this picture of a Resident Evil 2 Remake document (Biohazard 2 in Japan) says the words “Take 5” in the bottom-right corner. That’s the kind of things posted from an official Capcom-owned account of Resident Evil that suggests there have been a few renditions of the pitch. Whether or not they span beyond the last few days or the last decade-plus has yet to be seen, yet a remake of this magnitude has been a prominent request ever since Resident Evil 5 took the series into “that” direction.

It’s interesting to think about the future of Resident Evil when projects like Resident Evil HD, Resident Evil Zero HD and this Resident Evil 2 Remake are the talk of the company. Although our reviewer didn’t like it, Resident Evil: Revelations 2 was a solid co-op title, bringing a new perspective to the series in terms of characterization and the overarching story of biohazardous corporations taking over the planet. Resident Evil 7 hasn’t been announced yet, but with all these other projects being murmured about or developed, does Capcom even need it right now?
