Evo 2015: Your Ultra Street Fighter IV Grand Finals Winner Is…
What a tournament, and what a finish to Ultra Street Fighter Evo 2015!
With GamerBee knocking Infiltration out of Ultra Street Fighter IV competition with what was the match of the entire weekend (before these Grand Finals), Evo 2015 came to a close with a final showdown between Japan’s Momochi and Taiwan’s GamerBee. The latter relied on Adon to bring the Winners and Losers brackets to a reset and to play through the second series of sets, while Momochi brought Ken in matchup 1 and Evil Ryu in the second.

Ultimately, as more than 226,800 watched on live on Twitch.tv for a tournament record, how the Ultra Street Fighter IV Grand Finals play ended is definitely a story that has to be shared in Evo history forever. On the final set, tied at 2-2 and up one round, Momochi’s fight stick disconnected from the console. As tournament rules dictate, GamerBee was fully in his rights to take a round, which tied things up at 1 round each. As play resumed, Momochi held on to win in 3-2 sets, and is your Evo 2015 Ultra Street Fighter IV winner.
We’ll post a video of Ultra Street Fighter IV Evo 2015 Grand Finals play once it becomes available.
Here are your Top 8 Ultra Street Fighter IV players for Evo 2015, in order of tournament placing:
1. EG|Momochi (Ken, Elena)
2. AvM|GamerBee (Elena, Adon)
3. Infiltration (Evil Ryu, Chun-Li, Abel Decapre, Elena, Juri)
4. BE|Nemo (Rolento)
5. /r/Kappa|AiAi (Juri)
5. MCZ|Tokido (Akuma)
7. EG|PR Balrog (Balrog)
7. Liquid|NuckleDu (Decapre, Guile)
And with that, Evo 2015 has come to a close. We saw some great tournament play this weekend, whether it be from Ultra Street Fighter, the Smash Bros. series, in Killer Instinct or even from an anime game. While Marvel could have used some real Top 8 giants to spruce things up (its peak concurrent viewership was just 75% of what Melee brought to the table), overall we saw a lot of growth in interest of the fighting game community.
Oh, and one more thing; you are all free now!
