Evo 2015: Your Persona 4 Arena Ultimax Grand Finals Winner Is…

Every fighting game tournament event needs to have at least one set of matches to end first, and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax kicking off the Evo 2015 Grand Finals was the perfect entry point to an excellent weekend. As it turns out, Chou (Superboy) is your Persona 4 Arena Ultimax Evo 2015 champion, rocking Ken all the way through the tournament bracket. He soundly defeated Tahichi (playing as Margaret) in 3 straight sets to take home

With David “Dacidbro” Broweleit and James Xie calling the plays as they happened, the Persona 4 Arena Ultimax action was over before it really even started. Chau was putting on a clinic, dropping just the penultimate round. Whether it was laying traps, reading plays and counters or just dominating each player that came across him, this was Chou’s tournament to lose. Fortunately, for him, we didn’t see an upset.

With that in mind, one will wonder just if Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will make a return as a main tournament beyond Evo 2015. With Guilty Gear Xrd sliding into place as one of the top anime fighters, and BlazBlue: Chronophantasma Extend releasing just a few weeks before tournament play here in North America (way after the participating games were announced), could this slide down to a side tournament next year? I’d hate to think so, but with the prevalence of Smash Bros. and Street Fighter pools to take prominent play next year, you never know.

Here are your Top 8 Persona 4 Arena Ultimax players for Evo 2015, in order of tournament placing:

1. KSB|Chou (Ken)
2. NB|Tahichi (Margaret, Yukari)
3. Hagiwara (Teddie)
4. Aguro (Yu)
5. NB|Souji (Teddie)
5. Koichi (Aigis)
7. JEO (Shadow Mitsuru, Kanji)
7. NB|Okusan (Minazuki, Sho)
