Atlus and VanillaWare Announce Odin Sphere Remake, Plus Mystery Project
Atlus and VanillaWare are teaming up again, revealing in a trailer that they’ll be remaking their popular RPG, Odin Sphere. Odin Sphere: Leifdrasir is more than just a simple remaster (which they already did, in 2007), as Gematsu reports, but will feature more in-depth gameplay systems. It sounds like they’re doing a significant overhaul, as the game will also feature a Classic Mode, presumably allowing you to play through the RPG the original way.
Odin Sphere is an RPG with an overarching story split amongst five main characters, with events occasionally overlapping between the characters as the full story is told. Odin Sphere: Leifdrasir will be released on January 14, 2016 for PS4, PS3, and Vita in Japan. No word yet on releases outside of Japan, but given that the original made it over to positive reception, it seems likely we’ll see it later in 2016. You can watch the debut trailer here:
That’s not all, though. Atlus and VanillaWare teased a secret project, as well, with more information coming in September. We know absolutely nothing about this project, not even genre or vague clues. The announcement trailer is here, but it’s just an announcement of an announcement:
