Yuji Horii Talks Dragon Quest XI

Dragon Quest series creator recently dropped some details about the next entry in the mainline Dragon Quest franchise, Dragon Quest XI.

Horii made it clear that Dragon Quest XI, which is in development currently, will be more like the traditional games in the series and not an MMO like Dragon Quest X was. saying Dragon Quest XI would return to the roots of the series. SO expecting lots and lots of grinding!

Horii mentioned that Dragon Quest XI is in development for consoles, but wasn’t specific about which ones. Recent history would suggest it might still be a Nintendo platform exclusive as at least outside of Japan, the recent games in the series have been published by Nintendo and much like Monster Hunter, while the Dragon Quest series has a small but loyal following in the states, it is a huge franchise in Japan, so it would certainly be in Nintendo’s best interest to keep it on their consoles. Will Dragon Quest XI be an NX exclusive? We’ll probably have to wait awhile to find out.
