Eiji Aonuma and Hiromasa Shikata announced The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes at the Nintendo Digital Event at E3 today.

Shikata explained that Nintendo wanted to focus on multiplayer and coop for the new Zelda title. The new handheld Zelda title will make use of a totem pole mechanic, in which the player can carry friends on their shoulders to reach higher places.

“A 4-person totem was too tall, so we decided a 3-person totem was the right choice,” Shikata elaborated.

The single-story campaign will include playing around with fashion choices that affect game experience. The player will be able to collect items for new clothes and abilities. By equipping different clothes, your abilities will change–thus giving the courses a different experience based on what you wear.
