Andrew House, president and Group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, revealed that Sony’s Virtual Reality headset Project Morpheus will include a multiplayer mode.

“Morpheus was designed for PS4 and because of that, developers are quickly moving from the drawing board to creating 360 degree experiences that truly immerse the play,” House presented. The screens demonstrated the gameplay perspective using the Morpheus from Eve Valkyrie, Sólfar Studios, and The Deep.

House announced that visitors at E3 can try Morpheus’s new multiplayer feature with a new game, Rigs.

“Imagine playing a Morpheus game while four of your friends are inside the same virtual world,” said House. Rigs is a new 3v3 multiplayer battle game by Guerrila Cambridge, which he described as “e-sports, Morpheus-style”. Guerrilla Cambridge previously created Killzone: Mercenary.

Project Morpheus was announced in 2014 at the Games Developers Conference. Competing against the Oculus Rift, Morpheus is still a prototype and has no official release date. However, Sony has said that the Morpheus will be released in the first half of 2016.
