Our First Look At Wii U Free To Play Title Project Treasure

Remember when Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada first revealed he would be working on a Wii U title named Project Treasure? Back then, essentially all we got was him talking about the game while wearing sick sunglasses and ominous music played. This time, our first look at Project Treasure gameplay does not feature Mr. Harada, but the 4 players that comprise the free to play 4-player co-op action that awaits those seeking treasure for glory (and for fun).

The party for Project Treasure appears to be fairly standard for Japanese development; a lady with black hair and wearing no pants, a blond version of Ada Wong in a black dress, a black-haired guy with a skull mask and nondescript military black guy. The gameplay itself is fairly unique, however, as you and your team will clear traps, take down supernatural monsters and hoard the namesake treasure across several pyramid-like stages. Both guns and melee weapons like swords are given access to the player, with a focus on teamwork to help bring your toils to safety.

Seeing as it was only announced earlier this year, I guess it was too much to ask for to see an expanded look at the game. Frankly, I had forgotten all about it until now, so I guess that means it will serve well as a reminder for Nintendo Direct events going forward. The trailer says that we will see more later this summer, but hopefully Nintendo’s Digital Event will focus on announced brand new titles instead. I just want to know how egregious or not their free to play monetization schemes will work on the Nintendo Wii U!
