North West Studio To Make Sony Project Morpheus Games

When you release a service platform quite unlike anything yet released to the public, it only makes sense to have someone develop content for it. So when Sony officially announced Project Morpheus to the world, it was assumed that either established development studios would shift their focus towards developing for virtual reality, or that they’d open up a new studio altogether. They went with the latter, as a PlayStation Jobs site lists positions for a location called North West Studio over in the United Kingdom.

These are permanent positions Sony is looking to hire for, stating that they are providing, “An exciting and rare opportunity to join an ambitious new studio to create original games exclusively for Project Morpheus, PlayStation’s VR platform.” North West Studio is located, as Britons probably guessed, in the North West area of England, with Eurogamer hearing the studio is being set up in Manchester. Sony is looking to hire jobs ranging from an experienced level designer, character animator, lead artist, game designer, gameplay programmer and more. Essentially, they’re looking to start from scratch, but with hiring leads and experts of the industry.

With many of these positions holding a closing date of July 31, 2015, it should be some time before we actually see a finished product come out of this newly-forming North West Studio. It appears as though former staff from Evolution Studios will be bringing Project Morpheus prototypes to possibly work on. With Sony London Studio also working on VR gaming, perhaps the early stages of this exciting field of gaming will have its success grow from England. That would certainly be a sight to see, especially for the betterment of development in the country.
