Life Is Strange Episode 3 Comes Out Next Week
DontNod’s follow up to the ironically forgettable Remember Me, Life Is Strange, will continue its episodic adventure into the supernatural life of suburban Oregon next week. Specifically, as noted in a press release, Square Enix has announced that Episode 3, “Chaos Theory,” will be released on May 19th.
This newest episode of Life Is Strange will see protagonists Max Caulfield and Chloe Price continue their search for the missing Rachel Amber. As per the only available screenshot (featured above), the two will be sneaking into Blackwell Academy after regular opening hours for some investigative purpose. Whatever they suppose is in Principal Wells’ office may hold a clue that will may help to uncover the mystery behind Rachel’s sudden disappearance. More notably, Square Enix notes that Max will find another use for her ability to manipulate time, indicating a continued trend of becoming more attuned with her powers that we saw in Episode 2.

For me, Episode 3 may be the make-or-break moment for Life Is Strange. The first two sections of the story have focused on the lives of the characters, and the hardships they encounter within high school life. As much as the mood has been set with appropriately corny lines and hackneyed attempts to use 2008 slang like “amazeballs,” the plot needs to remain important. There has been enough exposition; with a focus on sneaking around Blackwell Academy, hopefully the game will shift towards the actual adventure gameplay aspects of the graphic adventure genre.
Life Is Strange Episode 3, “Chaos Theory,” will be released on PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360. With titles like this, you can expect episodes “Double Agent” and “Conviction” to follow.
