The Division Will Be Released Next Year

It’s sad to think that Tom Clancy’s The Division has been in radio silent development for so long that it will have three separate E3 showcase slots for three separate Ubisoft press conferences. During the Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate announcement livestream, Ubisoft released their sales figures for the past fiscal year, while also taking the time to project their upcoming year’s outlook. As part of the section highlighting their upcoming games, the report reveals a Q4 FY16 release window for the game.

As Ubisoft’s Fiscal Year 2015 (FY15) ended on March 31st, 2015, that means that The Division is scheduled for a release sometime between January 1st and March 31st in 2016. Furthermore, it will be the second official delay that the game has received since its E3 2013 official reveal.

Outside of The Division, Ubisoft let us in on the release windows of other prominent games they have coming out this coming fiscal year. Tom Clancy’s Rainbox Six Seige should be released between October 1st and the end of 2015, they will not be releasing any further last-gen titles (thank zombie lords) and, more mysteriously, another unannounced AAA title will come out by the end of March 2016.

While Ubisoft may be going to the Assassin’s Creed well too often, it has resulted in massive revenue this year. Peppering in new subset IP’s within respective game franchises (a la The Division and Siege), it could be yet another financially successful year for Ubisoft. You can’t release 4 separate Assassin’s Creed games each year before oversaturating the market, but you might as well enjoy the sales while they’re still coming in hot!
