Try Out The Splatoon Demo Starting Tomorrow

facebooktwitterreddit

During today’s Nintendo Direct focused on Splatoon, we got a hearty look at a bunch of old and new information about the game in a well-rounded 30-minute chunk. It seemed like it would be more of a fleshed out demonstration of what we’ve seen in the past, with a narrator now explaining what we’ve seen in past Nintendo Direct events in full detail. However, Nintendo saved the best for last, as they revealed they will be launching two Splatoon Global Testfire events ahead of launch. Long story short; Wii U owners will have access to a timed demo!

On May 8th (that’s tomorrow), players will be able to test out a piece of Splatoon action from 8 PM – 9 PM PT  (11 PM – 12 AM ET). On Saturday, May 9th, players will have two options to play: at 4 AM – 5 AM PT or at 12 PM – 1 PM PT. Essentially, you will be able to get in several matches at most on the East coast and, barring staying up all night or waking up super early Saturday morning, fewer opportunities on the West coast. Members of Nintendo of America’s Nintendo Treehouse department will be hosting their own livestream, and will be donning lab coats alongside the development/publishing team.

Splatoon will be released exclusively for the Nintendo Wii U on May 29th. Pre-ordering the game at GameStop will provide the limited-time offer of two bonus DLC costumes for use in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, which will replace whatever your Mii character currently looks like.
