Disney’s biggest multimedia cash cow for the past few years has typically been based on Marvel properties. The Marvel movies, including Avengers, saw profits in the hundreds of millions of dollars, with merchandise money following shortly behind. That’s why it makes sense to see that their newest intellectual property “toy,” the Star Wars franchise, will join the Marvel universe in prominence for the upcoming Disney Infinity 3.0, with Game Informer going into further detail for their June edition.

Ninja Theory (Heavenly Sword, DmC, Hellblade) will be focusing on the Star Wars for Disney Infinity 3.0 content in lieu of the lead development team at Avalanche. “Twilight of the Republic”” will follow Anakin and Ahsoka (Clone Wars) as they uncover the truth behind the droid army, as it is set after Episode II. Studio Gobo will develop a “Rise of the Empire” playset, covering the events of the original trilogy of movies with all your favorite leads from the era.

It’s not just Star Wars that will be heading for Disney Infinity 3.0. Pixar’s “Inside Out” will receive figures based on the characters portraying the human emotions of Riley’s character. Furthermore, United Front Games will be creating more Marvel characters, including Hulkbuster Iron Man, Ultron and others from Avengers: Age of Ultron. Of course, classic Disney characters like Mickey and Minnie Mouse will be included.

Disney Infinity 3.0 will be coming to PC, PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, PS3, Xbox 360, iOS and Android later this fall, with a $64.99 USD Starter Pack. Thankfully, Power Discs will no longer be sold in blind bags, meaning you can actually see what you’re getting now. Imagine that; a pro-consumer change coming to an annualized franchise aimed for children and young adults.
