Xenoblade Chronicles X Will Have Paid DLC

According to a recent NeoGAF post from user tonyh24613, Nintendo’s upcoming Wii U title, Xenoblade Chronicles X, will have paid DLC at some point after its release. Here’s the picture:

"DLC(quest) confirmed, since the bundle contains a 1000 point card so not surprising."

This image seems to be from Japanese download card, and elsewhere in the thread is a posted image of the front of the box. Xenoblade Chronicles X comes out on April 29th for Japan, which is likely why people already have pictures of display boxes. In this case, it seems as though the DLC will be included in the bundle, but also purchasable separately.

As a spiritual successor to the first Xenoblade Chronicles, this game already promises to be much bigger in scope and content. The promise of even more quests and story after the regular game is incredibly exciting, especially for a Nintendo game, whose past DLCs for other games have largely been limited to balance patches and character skins. No doubt many will hand over the money quickly for DLC, especially if the game is as good as or better than its predecessor.

Xenoblade Chronicles X will be released on April 29th in Japan. It will be released in North America and PAL regions at a later date that has not yet been disclosed, but will likely be sometime in 2015. In the meantime, we’ll have to be content with the port of Xenoblade Chronicles coming to the New Nintendo 3DS on April 10th.
