Zelda Wii U Release Date Pushed Back
Time to start pondering again what Nintendo’s big 2015 holiday will be, as it appears The Legend of Zelda Wii U will no longer be released in 2015. The producer, Eiji Aonuma, has confirmed as much on Miiverse, with a message and a video shared on Youtube. Furthermore, the game won’t even be making an appearance at E3 2015 this coming June.
“As I have watched our development (of Zelda Wii U) progress, I have come to think that rather than work with meeting a specific schedule as our main objective, and releasing a game that reflects only what we can create within that scheduled time,” Aonuma suggests, “I feel strongly that our focus should be to bring all these ideas to life in a way that will make The Legend of Zelda on Wii U the best game it can possibly be.
“So, I must apologize to you all that were expecting the game by year’s end, but we are no longer making a 2015 release our number one priority. Instead, our priority is to make the most complete and ultimate Zelda game. I hope to use the added time to make The Legend of Zelda for Wii U into a game that will reward you for your patience, so thank you for your continued support.”

There you have it. As is the trend with a lot of 2015 game titles getting delayed, so too will The Legend of Zelda Wii U. That makes Xenoblade Chronicles X, Splatoon, Mario Maker, Star Fox and Yoshie’s Woolly World as the remaining prominent Wii U games expected for a release sometime in 2015. Obviously, it’s just a matter of a Nintendo Direct and E3 itself for that to be corrected, but the current outlook for Nintendo’s troubled console does not look so good. Hopefully, whatever Retro Studios is working on, plus a prayer of a confirmation of a new Metroid/F-Zero game, is to come in the future. Nintendo fans need something new to look forward to.
