Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Release Date Leaked
Just as was the case with Tekken 7, IGN video assets going up too early have produced worthwhile news. The Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain release date has been confirmed to be on September 1, 2015 worldwide. This is according to a video file found on the IGN assets server, with the above image grabbed from the end of a 7-minute-long interview with the game’s creator and director, Hideo Kojima. The leak was discovered by a commenter on Metal Gear Informer, with NeoGAF user Dawg spreading the news on the forum to a higher visibility.
For those who are unaware, early yesterday Konami revealed a countdown page for an announcement concerning Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain coming this Wednesday at 9 AM EST. Based on previous statements from Kojima, it appeared as though a release date announcement was imminent. It’s clear now that Konami and IGN had teamed up to promote a worldwide reveal of the Phantom Pain release date that morning, before the assets were ultimately discovered.
Update: The video has been taken down by IGN, where it is likely to be re-uploaded tomorrow morning once the official embargo is lifted. If you wanted to catch Kojima talk about Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, you will have to wait for our update tomorrow.
