Continuing the “blink and you’ll miss it!” sudden releases of the Five Nights At Freddy’s franchise, the third entry was released on Steam late last night. Running up a cost of $7.99, the Youtuber-aimed horror jump scare series has taken a step into the future with Five Nights At Freddy’s 3.

The game’s description, per the Steam page:

"Thirty years after Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza closed it’s doors, the events that took place there have become nothing more than a rumor and a childhood memory, but the owners of “Fazbear’s Fright: The Horror Attraction” are determined to revive the legend and make the experience as authentic as possible for patrons, going to great lengths to find anything that might have survived decades of neglect and ruin.At first there were only empty shells, a hand, a hook, an old paper-plate doll, but then a remarkable discovery was made…The attraction now has one animatronic."

For those keeping track, this will be the third Five Nights At Freddy’s game released between August 2014 and March 2015. Releasing 3 games in the span of 7 months seems like a daunting task, but due to core gameplay mechanics staying relatively the same, along with the use of static background assets and limited animations, not nearly as much work needs to be done in subsequent entries.

That’s not to knock on what Scott Cawthon has done with Five Nights At Freddy’s, a series which leans heavily on atmospheric terror in order to drive up the creepiness factor. Those animatronic animals just get scarier and scarier as game entries go on, to the delight of fans and Youtube scream-players everywhere.
