Just Cause 3 Trailer Actually Wants To Set The World On Fire

After taking a 5-year hiatus, Just Cause is coming back this year with Just Cause 3. In order to ramp up excitement in preparation for the game’s eventual launch, Square Enix has provided a trailer with an emphasis on fire, explosions and a guy in a wingsuit.

Rico Rodriguez is back in the Just Cause 3 “Firestarter” trailer, named aptly for the featured cover song of the same name. Destruction is clearly shown in his wake, as cars fly through the air amid a backdrop of smoke, fire and crackling embers of uncontrollable flame. Bridges collapse, pictures and statues of dictators crumble, all in the eyes of our bearded protagonist as he descends down towards Earth at blistering speeds. He can do so thanks to his wingsuit, which grants him the ability to soar at unprecedented heights.

Though it’s not much in terms of gameplay, we can already see the early indications of where Just Cause 3 is taking the series. Exploration, stylish means of traversal and explosive action are hinted to remain the prime focus for the team at Avalanche Studios. Beautiful is its open world sensibilities, if concept art is to be delivered upon aptly. Moving forward with only the newest generation consoles and PC, it looks as though we will get the same basic tenets, but explored in a way that can only be provided on stronger console platform hardware specs.

Just Cause 3 will be released on the PC, PS4 and Xbox One later this year.
