In succession from her first outing and the discovery of immortal beings, Lara becomes enamored and obsessive with her research into the secret of immortality. Her discoveries lead her to believe the secret lies within the lost Russian city of Kitezh. Game director, Brian Horton had this to say about the new location:
"“When we did the research, we found a myth that would take us to the mountains of Siberia, and that just seemed like a really cool hostile place, which became a great foundation for our story and gave us a landscape that was new, and required a whole new set of technologies.”"
Personally, this is a really interesting avenue and I cannot wait to see more of what Kitezh will look like. I loved Tomb Raider (2013) and Crystal Dynamics’ interpretation on the fate of the Japanese civilization of Yamatai.
Rise of the Tomb Raider has an announced release date of Holiday 2015 for Xbox One and Xbox 360.
Head on over to Game Informer to see more of what Crystal Dynamics had to say about the new location and Rise of the Tomb Raider.
What do you think of the new location for Rise of the Tomb Raider?
