MLB 15: The Show Celebrates Its History With 10th Anniversary Edition

MLB: The Show has been a constant in my later gaming life. It was a big reason (along with Metal Gear Solid 4) why I picked up a PS3 last generation as early as I did, wanting to upgrade from my PS2 experiences with the Major League Baseball simulator. To celebrate its humble beginnings 10 years later, Sony has announced via the PlayStation Blog that MLB 15: The Show will also carry a PS4-exclusive 10th Anniversary Edition at $69.99 that will feature a ton of extra bonuses.

With Yasiel Puig gracing the cover of MLB 15: The Show, the 10th Anniversary Edition will include a SteelBook stylized with a wood grain finish, and will see Puig strike a different cover pose. In addition, it will come with an assortment of in-game items, including 12,000 XP-like Stubs and 15 bonus item packs. Finally, in a move that will definitely liven up the PS4’s homepage, the collection will feature a dynamic theme for MLB 15: The Show itself, as well as one for each of MLB’s 30 ballclubs.

It’s not just the Collector’s Edition that will see special pre-order bonuses. MLB 15: The Show can also be pre-ordered digitally or physically, which comes with the offer for a free DualShock 4 Skin voucher featuring the MLB team of choice, from Skinit. Doing so at GameStop (or EB Games in Canada) will get you an extra 6 bonus item packs.

Finally, it has been revealed who will be the Candian cover athlete for the version of MLB 15: The Show that hit retailers here up North. Acquired via free agency earlier in the offseason, starting Toronto Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin will be front and centre (notice the spelling) of PS4, PS3 and PS Vita boxes carrying the game when it releases in March. All before he plays even a single Major League regular season at bat with the club!

For those looking to see actual gameplay footage of MLB 15: The Show, you won’t have to wait that long. SCE San Diego, the development studio for the game, will be taking to Twitch at 5 PM EST later today to reveal gameplay for the very first time. It will be interesting to see any and all changes that are coming to the annualized franchise, one that at least takes great strides to improve each year despite of its growing reliance on microtransactions.

MLB 15: The Show will be released on PS4, PS3 and PS Vita on March 31st.
