New Witcher 3 PC Footage: Yep, It Looks Great
As preview footage starts to break out this morning, the gaming community has been given the opportunity to see The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt early looks at its beautiful gameplay months before its final release. While others were stuck with Xbox One footage, Eurogamer Portugal was lucky enough to receive a 14-minute look into the graphics-intensive PC version. You can already hear thousands of PC gaming fans revving up their 3.5 GB GTX 970’s in preparation.
From what one can gather from the extensive preview footage, The Witcher 3 sees Geralt return once again to a fully-realized world, brimming with life and monstrous death. With an overworld seemingly larger than that of open world map size staple Skyrim, the option to traverse the world, at the very least, exists by foot, by horse, by swimming and by quick travel. More importantly, Geralt returns to boast CD Projekt RED’s ability to find excellent voice acting, as dialogue barbs are shared from PC and NPC alike.
Despite some shoddy-looking animations (there’s roughly 3 more months of bug squashing left), as well as some noticeable texture pop-in, The Witcher 3 looks to be an expanded look at what made the series great. Yes, Geralt is still rolling his way to victory, while magic and fire animations look stunning at optimum outputs. Not everyone can appreciate The Witcher 3 at its recommended PC settings, but to those looking for a great action RPG with a distinctly European feel, going for the PC version over consoles looks to be your best bet.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be released on May 19th on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
