Finally, Telltale’s First Game of Thrones Trailer

After about a year since its first reveal at VGX 2013 (a revamped show that’s already been replaced), we finally get to see our first official look at Telltale Games’ adaptation of Game of Thrones. If the prominent HBO billing wasn’t a tip off that this episodic adventure game would play close to the show, the narrative monologue by Lena Heady as Cersei Lannister should more than confirm it.

That’s right, despite that you will be playing from the point of view of House Forrester, several actors from the HBO television series will lend their likeness and their voice acting prowess to the Game of Thrones video game. So far, in addition to Cersei, we will see Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister, Natalie Dormer as Margaery Tyrell and Iwan Rheon as Ramsay Snow. More cast members from the show will lend their voice to the series as episodes progress.

The “teaser” aspect of this Game of Thrones teaser trailer is very apt, as we just see brief shots of several surroundings without a clear narrative direction. We see glimpses of your fortitude in Ironrath, the Iron Throne, Cersei Lannister, Tyrion Lannister, Margaery Tyrell, the Wall, Ramsay Snow drawing a dagger and someone with a sword stab a shield. With a promise of a premiere date of “soon,” this slate of visual and dramatic clues isn’t nearly enough to sate the curious mind, but it will have to do.

Game of Thrones will be released on the PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and iOS, with more platforms to be announced in the future. The first episode is called “Iron From Ice,” which is the slogan for House Forrester and will look to be a prominent saying over the months to come.
