Story Details For Telltale’s Game Of Thrones Finally Emerge

facebooktwitterreddit

While we knew that the first episode of the Telltale Games Game of Thrones series would be called “Iron From Ice,” and that it would be coming out “soon,” everything else was just rumored based off of vague clues. Some had figured it out already (mostly whom read the books), but now Telltale is straight-up revealing that you will be playing as five characters from House Forrester, as told in a blog post on their website.

More from News

The story of this iteration of Game of Thrones will take place in a time near the end of Season 3 and the beginning of Season 5 of the HBO television program. It is interesting to note its standing with the timeline in the show, and not in the books. It may suggest that some of the story changes made in the television show will also make it into this season by Telltale, which could make for an interesting narrative departure.

Regardless, as House Forrester, you are noble towards the Stark family of the North and make a home at the stronghold Ironrath. It is situated amongst the ironwood trees, with the family holding true to their house words of “Iron From Ice” due to their belief that their tempering by an unforgiving climate makes them stronger people. What’s interesting it that not all five characters are strictly family members, as Telltale suggests you may be playing as a person “in service to the House” across Westeros and Essos.

I’m glad to see more Game of Thrones details come out now. The insistence that the game will come out in 2014 was quite troubling, considering we have seen absolutely nothing in-game so far. Gameplay footage, in-game screenshots, CG footage; anything would be nice beyond these concept images released so far! With an earnest fanbase that is dedicated to the fantasy series, perhaps their shroud of mystery will work in their favor.

Game of Thrones by Telltale Games will be released on the PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, iOS and more, although when, we do not know.
